Leo Full Moon
Wednesday February 16,
9:38 AM Sedona time, 11:38 AM EST

This image of the moon was taken shortly before sunrise this morning, so bright it almost looks like the sun💕
Where New Moons symbolize new beginnings, Full Moons symbolize culminations and release.

This is a potent Full Moon for dispelling self doubt, particularly this year with Saturn in Aquarius sitting opposite reminding us of where we have the tendency to feel like an outcast. Our shadow self, which is really just the wounded part of us really just needs a healthy dose of self love and acceptance. If you don’t have an immediate idea of what you need to banish, look into your obsessive thoughts, toxic habits, time-wasting activities, and familiar insecurities. Most of us know exactly which habits aren’t serving us anymore. In particular direct your gaze towards any unworthy notions of yourself — the inner voices that prevent you from expressing the authentic core of your being. Think of this core as a sacred flame that needs to be fed. Passionate, mysterious, forever changing its shape, as it dances and plays with the surrounding world.

 Leo Full Moon Ritual:

Set the stage by finding a quiet place to center yourself. Light a candle, symbolizing your inner flame, take a deep breath and go within. Imagine a glowing light in the center of your heart and allow yourself to bask in its warmth. When you can feel its warmth flowing throughout your being invite your inner doubts, toxic habits, obsessive thoughts and feelings, any notion of unworthiness into the warmth of your heart’s love. Invite these places of fear into the light. Into the transformative power of love. Bring them in from the cold and darkness where they have felt so rejected, into the warmth of your inner core. Breathe deeply, welcome these parts of yourself that are simply expressions of where you have experienced rejection back into the fold. Breathe this warmth that you have gathered into these places until you experience a sense of unity and completion knowing that all parts of you are sacred, simply because they belong to you.

Full Moon in Leo: What's Blocking You From Shining?

I seem to be obsessed with the Moon these days.  I can trace the path in my own chart, illuminating why I am so  profoundly tugged by these particular tides in this particular moment. As I turn my gaze inward I am filled with a sense of coming home to myself and immensely grateful for the reunion of places within that I had unwittingly neglected over time in the busyness of life.

As I have said before it is very ironic that everyone basically knows their Sun sign but we live our daily lives from our Moon. It is our home. The place where we take our clothes off and are  able to be our most vulnerable. Our softest place.

Ideally over time, our lifetime, we are able to consciously integrate and blend the energies of our Sun, our developing self with our Moon, the repository of our past experience and everything familiar.  This begins by being hospitable to ourselves and our experience. In essence, when we are hospitable to ourselves we  are able to feel safe enough to fully share the beauty of our vast inner world authentically with the outer world.  This  truly is the great work of our lives for all of us. To nakedly be ourselves. And to feel safe and nurtured in doing so.

This Wednesday, February 16, we have our annual Full Moon in Leo.  This is a fiery creative Moon.  Wherever we have Leo in our chart, and all have it somewhere whether it is emphasized or not, we are learning to shine and spread our warmth.  Leo is a creative sign, connected with fun, play, self discovery and the pleasure of being alive. At its core though, the essence  of perhaps spiritual practice of the Leonine energy is about  understanding what it truly means to love and appreciate ourselves. All of ourselves, particularly the places where we feel most vulnerable and  let pride get in the way being living the life we dream of experiencing.

New Moons symbolize new beginnings, Full Moons symbolize culminations and release.

Leo rules the heart, how perfect that this Full Moon falls two days after Valentine’s Day!  I invite you to hold loving yourself, being hospitable to yourself as a spiritual practice.  To daily feed your internal flame and watch it grow.

What's Love Got to Do With it?

As I write this we are still in the phase of the New Moon in Aquarius.  Even though Aquarius is an air sign–it’s called “the Water Bearer” because have strong historical ties to the cleansing, life-renewing qualities of water.  Culturally for most of history it was commonly believed that we live in an enchanted sentient cosmos. This only changed in the late 17th century when the newer modern mindset became seen as more valuable than ancient traditions and perspectives. For the earliest astrologers, the Sun in Aquarius brought the rainy season when water poured from the heavens.   This was when the Nile flooded; the fields were washed clean as life was renewed for another year.  The Romans filled this month with rites of purification, followed by celebrations of the fertility goddess Februata, as they prepared for spring.

We, our lives, are always in the process of becoming.

These ancient associations still live in your DNA.  Something inside may be calling you to get clean now for your rebirth ahead. On January 29th Venus moved from her retrograde process into direct motion again and she has a new role for the next 18 months: The transiting nodes of the Moon have moved from Gemini/Sagittarius into Taurus /Scorpio.  The moon is connected to our sense of belonging and the movement of the nodes serves to shift our focus where it belongs.  With the North Node (Think true north)in Taurus, our attention must shift to what we own both literally and metaphorically. Taurus, who falls under Venus’ domain is connected to value and self worth.

For the next 18 months the Goddess of Love is in charge of this process.

The north and south nodes are also known as the dragon’s head and the dragon’s tail.  The head, in this case in Taurus crowning Venus for the next 18 months, is where we are asked to take things in and the tail, now in Scorpio, well, it’s where we release. We let go of what doesn’t nourish us. It’s time to clear out all the musty, droopy, angry, wimpy, static energy of the recent past.  The inner and outer spaces mirror each other.   If your body has been lethargic, your life is likely the same.

If your work has been uninspired, rearrange your office and throw out old papers. If family relationships are not as harmonious as you like, give your home a top-to-bottom cleaning.  Prepare the way for the year ahead. Reassess your priorities.  Where are you spending you time?  Your attention?

Allow your focus to shift towards knowing and understanding what really matters to you. Owning it. Create time and space for it within your life.

Astrologically, this summer promises change for all of us, but particularly those of us who have placements in the middle of the fixed signs Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius.  We are seeding the ground in this part of the year for the changes ahead.
We live in an extraordinary responsive universe. When we honor our connection to it, when we become aware of the correspondences between the planetary movements and our lives we are able to move into a more trusting relationship with life. We profoundly know that we are never really alone but that the ever responsive cosmos is dancing alongside leading us forward.

May your year ahead be filled with such connection❤️

The Sanctuary of Belonging: Finding Our Way Home

The Sanctuary of Belonging: Finding our Way Home New Class Beginning February 21, 2022!

To this world you belong. To this moment, to this place where you already stand, something greater has ushered you. We are invisibly connected to life through breath, through soul, yet many of us often move through our world with an internal sense of somehow having been abandoned, essentially orphaned from the experience of belonging.

There are many different kinds of belonging: being part of a greater community, a family, and most importantly belonging to ourselves.

While we may not realize it, belonging to ourselves, holds the key to unlock the experience of all of the others. If we do not know how to cultivate a sense of joyous belonging to ourselves we will never completely feel like we belong anywhere. How can we? Our experience of the outer world innately mirrors our inner experience. The greatest irony is that somehow we have been essentially trained to be unconsciously complicit in our own exile.

Whilst I was writing this I used an online thesaurus to find another word other than belonging to use so as to not sound repetitive. The second word on the list was both eye opening and necessary: Exist

Somewhat shocking isn’t it? It implies the very thing I am trying to describe. If we exist we belong.

But do we actually experience life this way?

Or perhaps more importantly, how can we experience life this way?

When I was a baby astrologer in my 20’s I was willing to play the skeptics game of guess my sign. I would inevitably be incorrect but later we would find out I had accurately guessed their Moon sign. Why? Because in our day to day existence we live from the Moon.

Through the lens of your astrological chart a sense of safety, belonging and connection is symbolized by the Moon. The symbol of our consciousness, the Moon is the repository of all of our experience and the emotional, psychological and spiritual resonance of that experience. The Moon is an echo of where we have been, what we are familiar with, the sum of our being, the totality of our incarnation. The Moon represents all that we are summed up to be in this life. It represents our body, yes, but it also represents what has been called the ‘egoic sheath’–both the psychic and physical energy that defines me as a separate being, past, current and future.

The irony is that everyone knows their Sun sign but the Moon is our home both literally and metaphorically. Our inner experience is much more reflected in our Moon. The Moon is our summing of what we are, the Sun indicates how we will move forward.

Our natal chart is a guide, an alchemical compass, to our journey here in this lifetime.
That’s why it can be so eerily accurate when working predictively. It’s a map, but more holographic than a map. It has tales to tell and can act as a wise guide. When we consciously align with it in an embodied empowered way we experience being on purpose. Our chart can act as such a magical device, it’s designed to, but we have to bring our own awareness to it.

Even though we are working with the Moon this is not a traditional astrological class.

This is an embodied experiential workshop that will use process work (meditation, collages, dreamwork - yes, even over zoom) personalized to the participants. Yes, we will actively be working with your personal Moon’s and the charts of others in class but there will not be an overview of Moon in all twelve signs. You may learn some astrology but what I am aiming at is being able to consciously live our charts. To be able to use it and its elements as a tool for self discovery to help us find our way home.

As in all of my classes this will be a small group to facilitate an intimate setting. And for the first time in addition to class time I am giving each student a private 30 minutes one on one to more profoundly explore and illuminate the messages of their Moon. We will practice attuning ourselves, through guided meditations, imagery, self care practices, visualizations, myth-making and creative projects. This is a Zoom Workshop so you can participate from anywhere. Participants will receive recordings of all classes, it is not necessary to attend in person ( Although I highly recommend being live for at least some of the classes) as well as a 30 minute private session intimately going over the nuances of your personal Moon.

I invite you to join me on this four week journey to the heart of belonging.

Mondays from 2-4 pm for 4 weeks beginning February 21
$250
